At the heart of the Thunderbass' wide dynamic range and meaty
tone is a painstakingly perfect match of specially devised circuitry and select hardwoods. A straight forward control setup consisting of a master volume, active treble and bass boost/cut control knobs, and
a pickup-blend knob govern the two active preamps with three proprietary tone modules specifically designed for Pedulla by Bill Bartolini.
The "Thunderguts" switchable circuit accesses the thicker and darker low mid growl while maintaining the Thunderbass signature punch. The result is maximum tonal versatility with minimum control
panel clutter. M.V. Pedulla's Thunderbass is offered in two styles, the T and the ET. Both are available in 4, 5, 6, and 8-string models, all with neck
-through-body design, rich plated hardware (gold, black, or chrome), an ebony fingerboard, Bartolini pickups with our Thunderbass proprietary active circuitry. Due to construction differences and
materials, the ET has a deeper voice. Both are very responsive to the players most subtle techniques. The T features a rigid three-piece neck of quartersawn maple
flanked by two pieces of AA, AAA, or 5A Eastern curly maple, finished in lustrous polyester. The ET (“Exotic Top”) Thunderbass uses laminated wings set to our
five piece neck that includes two thin strips of Bubinga. The increased laminating redefines the attack, while the Bubinga accentuates the lower mids. Choice of “tops” are Zebra, Bubinga,
Cocobola, Lacewood, Flame and Quilted Maple, optional Limited Edition 5A Flame or 5A Quilted Maple, all laminated on a soft maple back. This combination produces a considerable different tone:
deeper, rounder, and a well defined “sweet” high end. Zebra and Bubinga tops accentuate lower mids. Cocobola is slightly “richer” sounding and deeper. Quilt and Lacewood are more open sounding.
Granted, tonal differences between wood tops are slight, but we figure if we appreciate them, chances are you will too. The ET is finished with a satin oil/urethane process. The result is the feel and
looks of a fine oil finish with the protection a durable urethane finish.
